Fried Spider Anyone?
Cambodian “Tarantulas” (by no means poisonous and not related to the Western variety) are extremely slow and do not run quickly like their relatives on the other side of the world. This makes it easy for the “catcher” to pick up the spider, which then becomes part of the local cuisine. Fried spiders are mainly seen around the Skun area (in between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh), and in some Phnom Penh markets and restaurants (Romdeng Restaurant in Phnom Penh serves up the gourmet variety).
